UNStudio's design was chosen as the winner of the mixed-use Düsseldorf competition after a two-phase competition and a public presentation of final designs. The development will be located at Hans-Böckler-Strasse 37-39 on Kennedydamm, and plans for a new development plan will be initiated based on UNStudio's winning design.

The carefully designed development aims to meet the future needs of an urban and sustainable city by offering a diverse mix of uses. It strives to create an area that resonates with both the users and the city's population, prioritizing accessibility, individuality, and diversity in its sustainable urban planning and architectural strategy.

The community center serves as the central social hub for the entire neighborhood, providing a wide range of cultural, gastronomic, leisure, and social activities. The facades, along with terraces and roofscapes, create open spaces for community and accessibility.

Furthermore, a mobility hub spanning three stories of the office tower connects the pedestrian bridge on the first floor with the bicycle highway on the ground floor and the neighborhood garage on the first basement floor. This hub offers ample space for a variety of special shared mobility devices.

Innovation is at the core of the residential tower in the New Heart development, which sets a precedent by offering a wide array of flat types suitable for different contemporary family configurations. The proposal incorporates a smart concept of wet rooms, enabling individually configurable flat types within a single floor, departing from conventional solutions.
