A proposal has been submitted to construct a 42-story build-to-rent tower above a grade II-listed former hospital in Birmingham. The designs for this high-rise at 80 Broad Street, would deliver 300 new housing units. The site had been home to the Zara’s restaurant and nightclub until 2020, and was previously a branch of the Old Orleans restaurant chain.

Design by Marrons, the proposal would also provide 1,117 square meters of community and retail space at the site, including a fifth-floor cafe and internal viewing area. Additionally, there will be a communal roof terrace for residents.

To supplement the planning application, Marrons also completed a heritage impact assessment and a socio-economic affordable housing statement.
