The Astra Tower, a stylish skyscraper with 40 floors in downtown Salt Lake City, has reached its tallest point.

Standing at 449 feet high, the Astra Tower has transformed the city's skyline. Construction of the building began in early 2023, with each floor being completed approximately every seven days.

To celebrate the completion of the structural work, nearly 600 individuals, including construction workers, gathered at the construction site. They had the opportunity to sign their names on the final steel beam, which was then lifted to the 40th floor by a crane.

During the event, Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, and project leaders shared their remarks on the progress of the Astra Tower.

The upscale residences of the Astra Tower will offer a variety of layouts, including studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom options. Additionally, there will be two levels of exclusive penthouse suites.

Residents will have access to a wide range of amenities, including an urban outdoor park, a clubhouse with a chef's kitchen, a work lounge with conference rooms, a fully equipped fitness center with a versatile studio, an outdoor pool and terrace, a spa and wellness center, and a spacious rooftop terrace on the 41st floor.

The project has involved an average of 365 builders per day, with the majority of the construction crews coming from Utah. Jacobsen Construction has led the project, working with over 45 subcontractors and vendors to bring to life the detailed design specifications planned by the global design firm HKS.

After completing the structural steelwork phase, the Astra Tower project will focus on installing utility systems and adding the final touches to the interior and exterior. Once fully completed in the fall of 2024, the Astra Tower will offer 377 luxury apartments at its address on 89 E. 200 South.

The Kensington Investment Company, a real estate and investment company with its Utah office based in Park City, purchased the 0.69-acre downtown lot where the Astra Tower now stands in 2018. Market studies conducted by KIC revealed a significant demand for apartment units in the Salt Lake City area, leading to the development of the Astra Tower.
