Verdant Tower Proposed Over Train Station in Brisbane
Queensland Investment Corporation has submitted a development application for a commercial skyscraper to be constructed over a transit station at 101 Albert Street.
Designed by Architectus and Henning Larsen, the "Rainforest Tower" is set to rise to 38 stories at 182.5 meters and be covered in greenery, hence its name. It will also introduce a public realm through a permeable ground plane to engage pedestrians at the street-level.
While office space is the primary use, the project is planned to be mixed-use. Seating areas at ground level will provide opportunities for social interaction and a refuge for pedestrians.
