Two-Tower Complex Joined by Illuminated Skybridge Proposed for Montreal

28 November 2018 | Montreal, Canada

A proposal for a two-tower mixed-use development has been put forward by Devimco Immobilier, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, and Fiera Properties, which may transform Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles and the downtown skyline. Designed by Lemay, the 51- and 53-story towers will be home to a combined 1,500 residential units, split between 1,000 condos and 500 rentals, with retail at grade.

Italian for "mastery," the two towers of “Maestria”  are planned to sit at a 90-degree angle to one another, connected by an illuminated skybridge at the mid-section.

The skybridge feature includes detailing that appears innovative and futuristic.

The CA$700 million (US$524 million) development is slated to be one of the most expensive ever constructed in the city, with construction set to begin by early 2019.

The project will rise at the intersection of Jeanne-Mance, De Bleury, and Sainte-Catherine Streets, allowing the 25th-floor skybridge (to be host to a restaurant and lounge) to feature commanding views of the Place des Festivals down below. The site of numerous celebrations and festivals, the Quartier des Spectacles offers residents and their guests a year-round source of entertainment.
