Proposal for Downtown Toronto Tower Gets Taller
The development application for 185 King Street East in the Old Town neighborhood of Toronto has undergone some changes. Originally, the proposal was for a mixed-use building that included hotel and residential units. However, the acquisition of adjacent property required revised zoning and site plan approval applications. Gupta Group's new proposal envisions a condominium building that is two stories taller than the original design, but without the hotel component.
The revised design features a more cohesive architectural style, with stepped articulation across the tower and a simplified reveal between the heritage homes and the tower. The 36 story building will include 394 residential units, retail space, and underground parking with bicycle parking spaces for residents. The site's location in the St. Lawrence neighborhood, near public transit, makes it an attractive location for this high-density project.
