Lahore’s Potentially Tallest Building Gets Green Light

30 April 2019 | Lahore, Pakistan

Following Pakistan’s federal government’s new vision for the country’s second largest city, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has given the go-ahead to construct the tallest building in the city at the Finance and Trade Center in Johar Town.

The 500-foot-tall (152-meter-tall) high-rise building will be constructed on a 44 kanal (2.22 hectare) plot of land. It will comprise 45 above-ground floors and three below-ground basement floors.

The LDA approved the building plan for the construction of this structure.

A grey water treatment plant will be installed in this building, and the treated water will be used for chillers and horticultural purposes.

The building will also have a system for the collection, storage and reuse of rainwater, as well as its treatment. It will also be funneled into recharging the underground water table.

With a vision to develop this area as the new financial hub of provincial metropolis, LDA has informed the district administration and emergency services so that they can make special arrangements for the area to cope with an emergency.
