A new 26-story tower in Journal Square could soon begin construction following approvals from the Jersey City Planning Board. The tower will occupy a large T-shaped parcel of land at 415-435 Summit Avenue. The project will eventually debut as 425 Summit Avenue.

The main project team includes Spitzer Enterprises, a real estate development entity founded and partially owned by former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, and architects Marchetto Higgins Stieve.

Featured Buildings

When complete, the building will comprise a mix of rental apartments, residential amenities, lower-level commercial area, and on-site parking for 51 vehicles.

As first reported by Jersey Digs, the residential component will eventually comprise 386 units. Broken down, this includes 182 one-bedrooms, 39 two-bedrooms, and nine three-bedrooms spaces. The most premium spaces will offer private balconies and large outdoor terraces.

Confirmed amenity spaces will include facilities for 200 bicycles, multiple outdoor spaces located on the roof of the building and above the podium level, a fitness center, and more to be announced.

Original permit applications also specified 3,550 square feet (329 square meters) of retail space and 34,000 square feet (3,158 square meters) of office space.

The project team has not announced when the project is expected to break ground or when it will open for business. In its current condition, the development site is occupied by surface-level parking and an undeveloped lot.
