Construction Has Begun on a 21-Story Residential Tower in Tokyo

03 January 2019 | Tokyo, Japan

Construction started on the Kanamachi 6-Chome Ekimae District Redevelopment in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo, on 22 December 2018. The redevelopment plan includes a new building that is 21 stories and 86 meters tall, with an area of about 250,000 square meters, while the planned area of the entire project is about 0.4 hectares.

The project will prioritize safety and disaster prevention by integrating the building with the Kanamachi JR Station square and adopting a seismic isolation structure. Nomura Real Estate has been involved with the project since 2015, and construction will be overseen by Toda Construction. The design is part of the Sato Comprehensive Plan. The area has seen more activity in recent years, including the Tokyo Science University Katsushika campus, which was constructed in 2013.

The development will include retail and office space from the first to third levels, while the upper floors will provide 190 homes. Amenities include parking for vehicles and bicycles. Construction is anticipated to conclude in the summer of 2021.
