In the heart of Cape Town on Upper Bree Street, a 24-story biophilic residential building has launched.

Developed by Lurra Capital AG, The Fynbos was designed by TwentyEightZeroTwo in partnership with botanists, landscapers and sustainability experts to enable increased synergy with the natural environment through the use of plants, trees and sustainable materials. It will be planted with 30 species of trees and 20 species of shrubs.

The proposed 26,814 square meter (288,620 square foot) building, which would include 1,579 square meters (17,000 square feet) of retail space, forms an internal street along with 689 apartments. The apartments range from studios to 1- and 2-bedroom apartments from 24 square meters (260 square feet) to 84 square meters (900 square feet) in area.

The development features a rooftop sunset terrace with lap pool and co-working space, a rooftop fitness center, a plant-based restaurant, tea room, and botanical bar. Integrated planters providing a garden experience for each unit. Cantilevered balconies will enable rainwater harvesting and will be staggered to increase shading.
