Brisbane Build-to-Rent Residential Building Proposed
In Brisbane, the Queensland Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Industrial Union of Employees is proposing to develop a 30-story build-to-rent tower. The project would deliver 377 residential units, as well as 382 square meters of retail and restaurant space.
A development application was submitted for nine lots bounded by Campbell, Hazelmount, and Edgar streets in Bowen Hills for a project site covering 3,300 square meters. The 19-25 Campbell Street, Bowen Hills site is located within the Bowen Hills Priority Development Area.
The building’s H-shaped cross section would support cross ventilation and allow natural light into the elevator lobby. The project is targeting a minimum 4 Star Green Star Design. Strategies proposed to achieve this goal include green roofs, a 10 percent thermal energy efficiency improvement for the apartments, and adjustable screening on the façade. A 40,000 liter rainwater tank will capture rainwater for landscape use.
The project would provide 200 bicycle storage spaces, 48 car share spaces, 15 electric vehicle charge points, as well as basic charging capacity for all non-visitor parking.
