The Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has begun construction on a new 62-story headquarters in the heart of Addis Ababa. The construction project, that CTBUH confirmed has started is valued at $450 million (USD) and is being built on EEP's premises near Mexico Square. Spanning an area of 197,800 square meters, the construction project is expected to be finished within four years.

Upon completion, the planned skyscraper will stand at a height of 327.5 meters, surpassing the current tallest building in Ethiopia, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) Tower, which measures 209 meters in height. 

The project team has emphasized the commitment to designing the headquarters in accordance with the globally recognized Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) Certification standards.
