Shami is a Director at Semper and co-leads their fire engineering design team. He is based in London and has over 600 projects in his global work-portfolio. He practises in a diverse range of sectors including commercial, residential, educational, healthcare and transport. Some of his more notable project work includes London Bridge Quarter, Muscat and Salalah International Airports and Woking Victoria Square. Shami has an academic background in Architectural Engineering and Sustainable Design, and works hard to ensure holistic building design is at the forefront of all of his work. His current focusses within the world of fire engineering revolve around the use of Li-Ion batteries in the built environment; structural responses under realistic heating conditions; achieving adequacy and efficiency in tall residential building design; and promoting knowledge-sharing & critical thinking within the industry. He has a passion for advancing our built environment, and has an instinctive eagerness to meet and work with dynamic, innovative and like-minded individuals. Shami was awarded the Society of Fire Protection Engineers UK “Fire Engineering Strategy of the Year” in 2023 for his work on the Victoria Square project in Woking.
