Sam Turner is an ESD Consultant in the AECOM Applied Research and Sustainability group in Melbourne, Australia. His role enables him to apply his passion for sustainable solutions with his technical design skills to improve the performance of the built environment.

With building energy use currently contributing 40% of global carbon emissions, significant opportunities exist to utilize sustainable design to reduce this impact and improve performance outcomes. Turner engages with all levels within organizations to develop, operationalize and deliver sustainability strategy and design solutions to a range of large commercial, health, infrastructure, residential, and public building sector projects across Australia and New Zealand.

Turner is a Green Star accredited professional both in Australia and New Zealand and a National Australian Built Environment Rating Scheme Assessor with further expertise in Passivhaus construction. He has diverse knowledge across building energy modelling, materials life cycle analysis, thermal comfort optimization, and climate adaptation assessments that create innovative best practice solutions. Leading sustainability initiatives include post-earthquake reconstruction work in Christchurch, New Zealand and as a Professional Fellow with social-enterprise Pollinate Energy, working to develop energy access within India’s urban slum communities.
