Robert Halverson joined John Portman and Associates in 2007 and is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. His professional experience includes a wide range of large scale mixed use developments, super high-rise, class A Office, performance spaces, institutional projects as well as hospitality mixed use in the US and Asia and is an advocate for form and urban spaces that create community. Robert is interested in the creation of unique, sustainable, discoverable spaces that blur the line between public and private, interior and exterior allowing for more interaction of the community within the urban realm as well as within the envelope of the building itself.
While at JPA, Robert has worked on developing the design for the Incheon 151 Tower in Korea (626 m), Chengdu Greenland Tower in Chengdu, China (468 m), Greenland Waterfront City in Wujiang, China (358 m), Sunshine 100 International New City in Chongqing, China (463,000 sm), Jinan Cheda International Finance Center (550,000 sm) and most recently BRIC Phase 2 in San Diego (61,000 sm) and Anthem Technology Center in Atlanta GA (60,000 sm).
Prior to JPA, Robert was as an Associate and Senior Designer at Davis Brody Bond in New York where he worked with institutional clients such as the New York Public Library, Vanderbilt University, Columbia University and RPI in upstate NY. Prior to DBB, Rob was a designer at Skidmore Owings and Merrill, LLP. in New York where he contributed to the design of Columbus Center in NYC, Times Square Tower in NYC and additional large scale mixed use projects in Sao Paulo, Brazil and around the world.
