Phillip Quach is a Structural Engineer at RJC working on complex projects spanning across commercial, residential, and institutional sectors. His recent portfolio includes Park Road, CIBC Square Phase 2, 160 Front St. West, and Concord Canada House. Equipped with in-depth structural consulting experience spanning over 8 years in the AEC industry, Phil is proficient in the analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures. As a member of RJC’s structural technical group, he engages in ongoing technical development within the firm.

Leading a ground-breaking research project focused on the shear response of very thick reinforced concrete slabs, Phil built and tested the world’s deepest shear specimen as part of his graduate thesis at the University of Toronto. Results were published in an article he coauthored that was featured on the cover of ACI’s Concrete International magazine in November 2015, a paper later selected to win the ACI Design Award in 2017. The experiment provides a new benchmark for shear tests, bringing about an improved understanding of the shear behaviour of these massive members representative in many structures today.

Phil received his B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering and M.A.Sc. in Structural Engineering with honours from the University of Toronto in 2013 and 2016 respectively. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, Chair of the CTBUH Toronto Chapter, and Co-Chair of the CTBUH Canada Future Leaders Committee.
