Girish Dravid has been involved in propagating CTBUH objectives in India since 2013. The India Chapter was officially established in September 2015. Currently, he is the Chairman of CTBUH India.

Girish is Director at Sterling Engineering Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd., a Structural Engineering organization in the forefront in India. The company provides consultancy services in all major cities in India and countries such as UAE, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Muscat.

Having witnessed the growth of Tall Buildings in India which was concomitant to his professional career, Girish is passionate about the subject. Being a resident of Mumbai, the home to the very early and now having the maximum number of high rise buildings in the country, he also understands the social, cultural, economic, and developmental problems that are associated with the high density development in a 400 year old populous island city.

Girish Dravid is alumni of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) from where he completed both his Graduation in Civil Engineering (1981) and Post-Graduation in Structural Engineering (1983). In his long career spanning 33 years, he has led structural engineers' teams to design a variety of projects that include large and complex residential, commercial, retail, luxury hotels and office buildings, infrastructure projects, convention centres, exhibition halls, railway stations, power plants and energy distribution stations, industrial buildings, and sports facilities. His particular interest though, lies in high rise buildings. He has conceptualized many innovative structural solutions that involve outriggers, vertical post tensioning of shear cores, composite construction, steel frames, deep transfer girders, damping systems, and other pioneering ideas. He is particularly known for his aptitude to produce designs that are construction friendly and that achieve systemic project optimization and minimizing visual structural intrusion in spatial experience.

Some of the major projects that can be picked up from Girish's sterling credentials are Grand Chola Hotel at Chennai, Grand Central Hotel at Mumbai, Palais Royale - the current tallest residential building in Mumbai, ICICI Regional Head Quarter at Hyderabad - the largest office building constructed with structural steel in India, TSI Bar Building at Hyderabad - the longest (200 m) monolithic building in India, Chepauk Cricket Stadium at Chennai, and the under construction 8 million sq.ft. convention and exhibition complex at Mumbai.
