David Mizan Hashim is the founding director of Veritas Design Group, one of Asia’s largest multi-disciplinary design firms, which he established in 1987 after graduating from America’s Harvard University. The award-winning practice, which is known for having incorporated sustainability practices and solutions since its inception, has won numerous local and international accolades. Veritas is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur and has offices in six countries, with plans to expand to Tokyo, Japan next.
After obtaining a Master’s in Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, following a degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), David was awarded the prestigious Aga Khan Travel Fellowship for research into Islamic architecture. Besides being the principal-in-charge behind iconic structures designed by Veritas in Malaysia and beyond, he is also recognised as a proficient entrepreneur. He has led the international expansion of his company through providing a wider range of service disciplines, as well as laying down plans for succession by mentoring and empowering younger leaders, foreseeing that the best days of Veritas will be led by the next generation. In 2020, David was nominated for the Malaysian EY Entrepreneur of the Year award.
He is a regular speaker at architectural and entrepreneurship events locally and internationally, and is married to Asha Hashim. Together they have two sons, Ary and Mikka.
