Under Construction High-Rise in Recife Catches Fire
A large fire broke out in a reported 28-story high-rise under construction in the Torre neighborhood of Recife in Brazil on Thursday night, 28 March. Firefighters were battling a sizable structure fire close to Real da Torre and Padre Anchieta streets. There were several reports of debris falling into the streets.
As a precaution, the authorities shut off the electricity and evacuated a number of the nearby buildings. No casualties have been reported and no statement has been made at this time as to what started the fire.
