UAE-based hotel operator Rotana has announced the soft opening of Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation Square in the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam.

The 65,000 square-meter mixed-use project marks the company’s entrance into the East African market.

The project offers 193 rooms, as well as 60 fully furnished and serviced apartments. The rooms, suites, and apartments are spread across 15 floors above the 13th.

Guy Hutchinson, Rotana Acting CEO, said “As part of its long-term strategy, Africa has remained a key focus market for Rotana. With the opening of the Johari Rotana, the company has reached a significant milestone in our journey.”

"Our first property in East Africa heralds a new hospitality experience in the region,” Hutchinson added.

Amenities will include dining venues, a large meeting and conference facility, a dedicated business center, offices, and an indoor parking facility.

Hotel guests will also have access to an outdoor pool, gym with a boxing ring, sauna, steam, and treatment rooms.
