The construction of the Roch Tower, a symbol of the urban renewal program initiated in the station district in Montpellier, has begun. The new 17-story tower is expected to be delivered by the end of 2021.

The elected officials of the City of Montpellier, the promoters Pragma and Vinci Immobilier, as well as the architect Xavier Gonzalez (Cabinet Brenac & Gonzalez and Associates) laid the foundation stone of the Roch Tower on May 23rd.

This luxury building will be built next to the multimodal hub of the Saint-Roch station, in downtown Montpellier, and will top out at 50 meters in height.

This ambitious project represents an investment of €22 million (US$24.5 million), and offers 77 high-end housing units, of which 80 percent are already reserved, according to Philippe Gadelle, president of Pragma.

“Only 14 homes remain available for sale, which is a commercial success that we welcome,” Gadelle says. “The control of technical costs has required a long development in recent months, because a tower of 17 floors implies constraints. But today we are on time, with the acquisition of the land at the end of the year 2018 and the start of work as of May 24th. “

The completion of structural work is scheduled for the end of 2020, while the housing should be delivered to the owners in the fourth quarter of 2021.

A new park dubbed René Dumont, will be built next to the Roch Tower with a total area of 1.5 hectares. Work began on the park in September 2018.
