French hotel giant Accor has announced a partnership with Perth property developer George Atzemis to develop an Art Series hotel in Perth’s CBD. The AU$90 million (US$ 63 million) project at 900 Hay Street will include 250 rooms spread over 27 stories.

The hotel will mark Accor’s ninth Art Series hotel in Australia, with others in Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

“The French operator will dedicate the hotel to an Australian contemporary artist”

The French operator will dedicate the hotel to an Australian contemporary artist, with the fundamental design concept of the 250-room Art Series hotel drawing inspiration from its incoming namesake artist, with custom contemporary furnishings and original artworks and prints adorning the walls and halls of the hotel.

The hotel is currently undergoing an extensive internal fit-out and remains targeted for completion in September 2019. It will feature a signature restaurant with terrace, bar and lounge, ground floor cafe, swimming pool, gymnasium and a function room.

“The Art Series brand has great synergies with the quality and standard we strive for in all our developments,” 900 Hay Street owner George Atzemis said. “There is no doubt this iconic hotel will be a welcome and significant addition to the Perth city landscape.”

Accor is the biggest hotel operator in Australia by a significant margin, after acquiring its second-placed rival Mantra Group for AU$1.2 billion (US$841 million) in 2018, creating a group with about 355 hotels. Mantra had acquired the Art Series Hotel portfolio from the Deague Group for AU$52.5 million (US$36.8 million) in 2017.

Original works by the yet-to-be named artist will line the walls of the hotel, complemented by dedicated art channels, libraries, tours and utensils on supply.
