High-Rise Damaged by Fire in Madrid

A fire engulfed the upper fourth of the newly built Torre Ámbar early on Saturday, 30 August, 2020. 

The fire service was informed of the blaze at 6:45 am, and more than twenty fire crews rushed to the scene. The blaze has devastated the entire top three floors of the building including the roof, however there are no casualties.

The newly built structure had uncompromised compartmentalization, which aided in controlling the fire's spread. 

The use of aerial firefighting methods helped fire services control the fire quickly, preventing further damage to surrounding areas. 

The full extent of the damage is not yet known. Firefighters are currently assessingit while working with the social security department to tend to the needs of residents and their neighbors.
