Architect Wins Permission for West London Culinary Quarter
Architecture firm Scott Brownrigg has won planning permission for a mixed-use “gastronomic quarter” in North Acton.
The scheme will see two towers of 26 and 36 stories created on a 0.75-hectare site in West London, to be known as the Culinary Quarter, for serviced office and commercial kitchen developer Dephna Group.
It will see food, retail, and innovation suites for tasting, researching, and developing food, plus 40 serviced offices and 376 private-rented-sector (PRS) homes.
Scott Brownrigg chief executive Darren Comber said, “The Culinary Quarter is an exciting new development which will provide not only a new visitor destination to London, but also much-needed residential units.
“The elegant, high-quality design of the towers, applauded by the council, will make a positive contribution to the skyline of London.”
The development will be located at the edge of the Old Oak and Park Royal regeneration area, and includes a public square, which will host pop-up food, art and cultural events.
Council officers who assessed the scheme said, “The architectural approach in terms of appearance, form and materiality is striking and of a high quality and will act as a visual marker at the entrance to the Southern Gateway and wider Old Oak and Park Royal Opportunity Area and the western approach to Central London.”
The scheme has now been referred to London mayor Sadiq Khan for final approval.
