47-Story Building in Milwaukee Tops Out
The 47-story building, The Couture, in Milwaukee has topped out on Wednesday, 7 February. The project is part of the Lakefront Gateway Project to revitalize that part of downtown, and a celebration hosted by general contractor Findorff and other consultants who have been working on the project. The topping-off places the building as the tallest residential building and the third tallest overall in the city. The 860,000-square-foot (79,897 square meters) mixed-use development is a slender, 537-foot-high tower and will include 322 high-end apartment units and retail and restaurant space at the podium.
As part of the project’s plan to improve connectivity between the lakefront and adjacent communities, the site contains a new light rail station that passes through the podium and over the two-story basement parking levels. A future pedestrian bridge is supposed to link the building to the waterfront. The first residents will be able to move in starting in April and the building will be fully completed by summer 2024.
