1950s Manchester Block to be Replaced with 45-Story Tower
Studio Egret West has presented plans to demolish a Modernist office tower, the 1950s-era Albert Bridge House, in Manchester and replace it with a 45-story residential tower. The 18-story existing block is currently occupied by HM Revenue & Customs on a 0.9-hectare site to the west of the city's center.
Oval Real Estate is developing the project, which would introduce a 367-unit residential tower on the site plus a new 19-story office block with around 32,500 square meters of floor space. The scheme would also feature new public space and pedestrian routes, as well as ground-floor shops and restaurants.
