CTBUH Seattle Future Leaders Committee Presents: Future of the Seattle Center Master Plan

About the Event
Join the CTBUH Seattle Future Leaders Committee for a virtual presentation on the future master plan for the Seattle center and construction tour of the new Climate Pledge Arena. The Seattle Center, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World’s fair, houses the iconic Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, a multitude of performance and arts venues, and now the fully re-developed Climate Pledge Area.

The Arena is the most significant private investment in Pacific Northwest sports and entertainment history. The partnership is between Amazon, Oak View Group, and the City of Seattle to reimagine and redevelop an arena constructed under an historic landmarked roof originally built for the Washington State Pavilion in 1962. Not only is the new arena a massive undertaking and transformational project for the Seattle Center, but will be carbon neutral, using no fossil fuels for daily use, 100% renewable power, elimination of single use plastics and significant water savings, even using collected rainwater for the ice for NHL games.

Following the master plan presentation, the Mortenson Climate Pledge Arena team will present a digital site walk through of the project construction progress to date. Including: site demolition, salvage and restoration of the historic building enclosure, excavation, temporary roof supports, foundations, tie in of permanent structure , removal of temporary roof supports, and build out of the new arena under an existing roof.
