2019 international Student tall building Design Competition Winners


The 2019 International Student Tall Building Design Competition ran on the theme of "Future of Humanity", which relies on the collective benefits of urban density; reducing both land consumption and the energy needed to construct and operate the horizontally dispersed city. Tall buildings must now be the vehicles for creating increased density not just through sheer height, but by connecting multiple layers of the city. Physical urban infrastructure, circulation, greenery, and urban functions traditionally restricted to the ground level would all, ideally, continue up and into the building, such that the buildings themselves become an extension of the city: a part of the two-dimensional horizontal urban plane flipped vertical. Baga Sola Future Oasis

Baga Sola is a town on the shore of Lake Chad in western Chad. The main idea of the skyscraper is to act as a depot which is the combination of biodiversity and cultural diversity; a building which provide food through agriculture development; a building which is sustainable that able to collect water and generate energy; a building which can preserve and helps to balance the ecosystem; a building which acts as an oasis to the area and stop desertification eventually; a building which is the formation of nature and technology; a building which acts as the starting point of changing the status of the country.

Denseaty

Maria Vika Wirastri, Tian Tamaputra, Kurniawan Abednego Putratama, and Gilang Pidianku, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta 

 

As there is a statement "all things will come down to the sea", can we imagine how we take part in destroying and harming our sea? Starting from the global and Makoko’s problems, Denseaty is being presented as a solution that tries to solve the problems in Makoko and become a concept to reduce the adverse effects of urbanization which is not only on the land, but also on the sea waterfront. The programming starts from changing the shape of fishing villages which are always horizontal to become vertical. After that, the main functions in Makoko were added, such as residential, shared spaces, public facilities, fish production, and canoes parking area.

The Purpose of this Project is to provide the First fertile Green Building which has function to a better-quality Lifestyle of slums in Baseco, Tondo, Manila and as Projected Cultural Heritage of the future Project idea is to clear a real that will Protect the built Environment Adapting and Practicing. The Concept of a layered City and the Core of an Urban Primitive Area/Slums take the Project to Lead the Goals in Revisioning. The Community as a New Fertile Land Development. The Baseco, including history, population diversity, ecological systems, culture, commerce and economics, among other influencing factors that could inform our design decisions through the course of this project.

The Eco-Steam Project

STEAM has the concept of celebrating the Environmental movement of the 21st Century. The Designer has a vision that “in the 21st Century, Energy Production is so Eco-Friendly that people can see Industrial Infrastructure as part of a Progressive City. “The Steam coming out of Industrial building is to be considered as an Environmental destruction today, but in this Project, it has to be seen as a sign of Celebration in Solving One Global Dilemmas We are facing today so we Creatively played Around the approach to Industrial Engineering by Forming steams into different shapes that has the ability to transform Industrial Steam to a “Power plant Steam Display”.

Tesseract

Bryant Lau Liang Cheng, National University of Singapore

 

Tesseract proposes an architecture system that allows residents to participate in both the design of their own units and the programs within the building. This process is inserted between the time of purchase for the unit and the total time required to complete construction - a period that is often ignored and neglected.  Through this process, residents are allowed to choose their amenities and their communities, enhancing their sense of belonging in the process. Housing units will no longer be stacked in repetition with no relation whatsoever to the residents living in it - a sentimental bond between housing and men results.
