Tom Xia is a principal and technical director at DCI. He has 35+ years of professional experience covering a wide range of projects including high-rise, office and parking, commercial and residential, hospital, education, and industrial projects. Tom serves on numerous local and national technical committees for building codes and standards and is highly respected in the engineering community. He was part of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW) Reconnaissance Team who visited and inspected the building damage after Japan’s 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
He has extensive experience with large-scale and multi-use projects with challenging design, cost, and schedules. He has been responsible for all aspects of project design and management including preliminary design, cost study, value engineering, peer review, field investigation, and construction support. With his vast field experience and technical know-how, Tom is a team asset for any project requiring his consultation in performance based design; research and development; and complex site and building design.
His past award-winning DCI projects include the NPIC Office Building in 1996; South Park Commercial Development Project in 2001; the Overlake Hospital Garage in 2002; 5th and Jackson Office Building in 2003, and Ashwood Residential Tower in 2006. He is currently working on the ELEV8 project in Bellevue, Washington.
