About

Tom is an architect and Passive House Consultant, and founded TBDA in Oak Park in 2006 to pursue sustainability as contemporary, site-relevant, energy-efficient architecture. His works include the Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center and the Carroll Community Center Net Zero buildings for the Park District, the first certified Passive Houses in the Chicago region, and many deep energy retrofits and renovations. He is a past commissioner and chair of Oak Park's Historic Preservation Commission, and currently a board member of the Chicago Passive House Alliance.
