Simon Smithson joined RSHP in 1991 and was made a Partner in 2011. He has a particular focus on urban design and has been involved on major projects as diverse as the RIBA Stirling Prize Terminal 4 at Madrid Barajas Airport, the LEED Platinum Campus Palmas Altas HQ in Seville, and the mixed-use development Atrio in Bogotá.

Other major projects include T3 Taoyuan Airport, Taiwan; ParcBit sustainable masterplan, Palma de Mallorca; the redevelopment of the South Bank Centre, London; the National Assembly for Wales; Antwerp Law Courts, Belgium; the Masterplans of Valladolid AVE and Nivalis in Grenada (Spain).
