Simo Peltonen is currently team leader in product development for Peikko Group, located in Lahti, Finland, focused on developing solutions for composite structures. One of the focus areas of his team is DELTABEAM®, Peikko Group’s solution for shallow floor structures. His team is currently working on improving ductility and robustness, timber floor interactions with floor beams, beam-to-composite-column connections and creating internal and external design tools for Peikko products.

Prior joining to Peikko Group, Peltonen he held a structural engineer position and after that, a project manager position in the energy industry. He joined Peikko in 1998.

Peltonen obtained his MSc in Civil Engineering in the University of Tampere, where the topic of his thesis was the material properties of structural timber.

He is a member in national and European committees and working groups dedicated to developing national and European standards. He is author and co-author of a number of technical papers on composite structures, presented at international conferences.
