Samir Serope Daoud, B.Sc(Arch) Dip(UrbDes) AADip(Plan)
Samir is an Architect, Urban Designer and Town Planner with a great depth of experience in working internationally, having consulted on projects in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Baghdad, Erbil, Pune (India), Doha, Riyadh, Tunis, London and Paris.
A graduate in architecture from Baghdad University, Samir moved to London UK in 1977 and began his architectural career with Covell Matthews Partnership International and Tibbalds Partnership. In parallel, he completed post graduate studies in Urban Design at the Polytechnic of Central London and Town Planning at the Architectural Association, London.
From 1981 to 1986, Samir served as Principal Design Architect at Makiya Associates (London), with the internationally renowned Arab Iraqi Architect, Professor Mohamed Makiya. Samir devoted his design skills and expertise to the specific environmental and development needs of the Arab Islamic region, designing and managing a variety of award winning projects.
In 1988, Samir founded Diar Consult in the UAE and he continues to serve as its Chairman and Design Principal. Samir has led the firm to be amongst the leading consultancy firms in the Arabian Gulf region, in the fields of architecture, urban design and interior design, with several national and international design awards to its credit, including the CTBUH 2012 Innovation award for the Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi, where Diar Consult were Associate Architects to Aedas Architects Ltd.
Throughout his career, Samir has led the design and delivery teams of some iconic projects in the development of the UAE such as Jumeirah Islands in Dubai and Victory Heights in Dubai Sports City. He has partnered with many reputed international firms, he has been an Adjunct Faculty at the School of Architecture in the Canadian University Dubai and also serves as Client Representative to Clients, directing their private developments and investments as well as participating in disputes resolution.
