Ryan Flom is the Chief Marketing Officer of the Softwood Lumber Board, an industry-funded initiative established to promote the benefits and uses of softwood lumber products in outdoor, residential, and non-residential construction.
Flom may not have been a “wood guy” when he joined the SLB in 2018, but he certainly is now. He has expanded his knowledge by building strong relationships with industry leaders, understanding primary business drivers, and blending the two into powerful marketing strategies for the SLB. His 20+ years of experience in media, marketing, sales, and business development, combined with a proven ability to manage complex programs, have elevated the SLB’s funded programs. Flom’s commitment to the SLB has ensured that the organization’s investments are used effectively and efficiently to drive new demand for softwood lumber.
Before joining the SLB, Flom was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Accounts for Hanley Wood, where he led sales and marketing teams while maintaining a direct selling role on key accounts. He also spent 11 years in the B2C and B2B event marketing field, where he conceptualized, planned, and launched new consumer packaged goods.
With this deep experience and a passion for empowering his teams to deliver their best and most strategic work, Flom has helped grow the SLB brand while increasing market share for wood. Flom resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his family. As a dad to three boys, he enjoys coaching hockey, traveling, and a great glass of wine.
