Ryan Dow, PE, SE, is a Principal at McNamara Salvia, a nationally recognized structural engineering firm established over 35 years ago that brings award-winning creativity, innovation, and experience in structural design to a wide variety of project types.
Ryan has managed the structural engineering of many large scale and mixed-use projects ranging from high-rise towers to retail, institutional and healthcare buildings. Ryan has experience in bringing together large teams of stakeholders, architects and engineers around a single, complex structure. He has a broad background in the design of wind and seismic lateral systems along with a strong focus on constructability.
Ryan started his career at McNamara Salvia’s Boston office in 2001 after completing his BSCE at Oregon State University and his M.Eng degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he started his career on large, complex projects such as the Westin Convention Center Hotel Boston, the Inter-Continental Boston Hotel and the Meadowlands Xanadu project (now American Dream). In 2006, he moved to New York City to join the firm WSP Cantor Seinuk, were he played key roles in many tall building projects, including the new 2 World Trade Center, 3 World Trade Center, 3 Hudson Boulevard, 425 Park Avenue, 1717 Broadway and the new One Dalton Four Season Tower in Boston. In 2014, he re-joined McNamara Salvia to lead their New York City office along with fellow Principals Bart Sullivan and Vlad Seijas. Recent tall building experience includes 989 6th Avenue, 259 Clinton St, Pacific Park B4 (18 6th Avenue, Brooklyn) and the Brooklyn Point tower in New York City and the Copley Place and South Station towers in Boston.
In addition to his project roles, Ryan is an active with SEAoNY, has spoken at conference for both AISC and ASCE and served as a recurring guest lecturer at various universities, including MIT.
