Dr Michael Kinsey is a Chartered Fire Engineer and an Associate Director at Ashton Fire in the UK. As well as supporting design teams both within the UK and internationally, he specializes in applying understanding/tools and conducting research associated with modelling human behavior in emergencies to improve building design. He is an active writer of scientific conference/journal papers associated with evacuation modelling and human behavior in fire. He is also on the SFPE Human Behavior task group, co-author of the 2nd Edition of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Guide to Human Behavior, and is on the ISO TC92/SC4/WG4 developing international protocols for evacuation model verification/validation.
