Focusing on the intersection of architecture, people, and communities, Michael Hensley has led numerous corporate, commercial, master plan and multi-family projects for a diverse and international client base. As a leader in design, Mr. Hensley explores opportunities to create impactful designs based on the human experience and augmented through the integration of technology, sustainability, and wellness features. In addition to project leadership, Mr. Hensley brings the same level of attention to developing and improving the internal operations and studio culture of Pickard Chilton.
Mr. Hensley currently leads T3 RiNo, a mass timber commercial project in Denver’s River North district, as well as Pickard Chilton’s mass timber research initiative. In addition, he is leading the team realizing the Field Street Tower, a 38-story office tower in Dallas, Texas and is also a Project Designer for Sherwin-Williams’ new corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. Additional significant headquarters and high-rise projects include 1144 Fifteenth Street, a 40-story office tower in Denver, Colorado; the ExxonMobil Global Campus in Houston, Texas; and The Atrium in Dubai, UAE.
As one of Pickard Chilton’s first LEED AP designers, Mr. Hensley led the Pickard Chilton LEED Initiative to educate staff on sustainable design principles and to assist all design staff to become LEED accredited professionals. Additionally, he is among Pickard Chilton’s first WELL Accredited Professionals. As a WELL-AP, Mr. Hensley continues to promote the advancement of health and well-being in buildings and communities to both clients and colleagues. Other responsibilities involve serving as Chair of the studio’s Leadership team and serving as a member of both the Technology and Sustainability Committees. Mr. Hensley is one of eighteen architects from across the country selected for the inaugural class of the AIA Leadership Academy, a three-year program designed to foster leadership, innovation, and mentorship for emerging leaders in the profession.
Mr. Hensley received a Bachelor of Architecture from the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated as a Collegiate Scholar with University Honors. He was a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar and a recipient of the University of Texas Architecture Travel Scholarship.
