Lisa serves as Lendlease’s Timber and Innovation Specialist, responsible for developing the nationwide business strategy for the use of mass timber and componentized solutions in a range of projects and pursuits across Lendlease business units. Lisa consults with clients, design consultants, building authorities and subcontractors on mass timber solutions, timber technologies and permit approvals.
Lisa is considered one of the leading US industry resources for Mass Timber sitting on several industry and professional advisory boards and supporting mass timber market development through individual research projects and organizations like the Tallwood Design Institute and the Council of Tall Building and Urban Habitat. As a co-author and peer reviewer for the 2012 United States Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) Handbook, Lisa began her contribution to the market development of CLT and mass timber early. In 2016 she peer reviewed the Nail Laminated Timber Design and Construction Guide and by 2018 had completed a two phased research program establishing a new design methodology for the blast resistance of CLT, accomplished through seven full scale live blast tests and opening a new market for timber structures.
Prior to her current role, Lisa spent over a decade working for the wood industry in market development where she worked with architects, engineers, contractors and developers to develop effective solutions for timber projects across the country. She supported the wood industry with design and code expertise on fire/life safety, sustainability, mass timber construction, cross-laminated timber and other innovative wood technologies.
In addition to her interest in timber innovation, she has a passion for sustainable structures; rotating as Chair of the Structural Engineers Association of California’s Sustainable Design Committees since 2009, co-authoring several papers on the sustainability of wood construction and participating in one of the first studies exploring the life cycle impacts of structural systems. Continuing her leadership and advocacy for timber and low environmental impact building construction, she supports activities at Lendlease including master planning, design management, cost planning, and pre-construction, guiding early decisions to achieve pioneering, sustainable project delivery.
