A design director in SOM's New York office, Kim Van Holsbeke has more than 20 years of experience. Educated in Belgium, Van Holsbeke brings to his design work a European sensibility based on the importance of a well-crafted public realm. For the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland, Maryland, he helped shape a holistic vision of how a large building could provide a variety of interior and exterior experiences. His interest in the dynamic possibilities of mixed-use projects, from master planning to the coordinated design of an integrated complex, further developed through the Manhattan West project in New York.
