Katrin Foerster has been working for ABB as a Global Key Account Manager since 2012 representing ABB in the design industry. Her role includes developing, organizing, and leading ABB's major involvements in this area. Examples include: ABB Headline partnership to the World Architecture Festival (WAF), the Architects Journal (AJ100), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continental Europe Chapter, and other events like awards, exhibitions, and conferences. Foerster has been raising ABB´s profile and reputation in the design and construction industry through numerous, diverse engagements, and channels and creatively pivots when needed such as by launching a video series called Frozen Music during the first lockdown of the Covid pandemic in April 2020. The video series focuses on outstanding architectural projects around the globe and gives architects the chance to have their project introduced by ABB to a global community. She has a long list of successful engagements in the past, current and that are in the planning process now. This has also included supporting CTBUH conferences in London at RIBA with Zaha Hadid Architects and ABB as partners.
Prior to joining ABB, Foerster first completed an apprenticeship as a hotel manager at Brenner´s Park Hotel in Baden-Baden and at the hotel management school in Villingen-Schwenningen (Black Forest). She then ran a renowned restaurant in Bremen for a couple of years before beginning her studies in economics, while raising a family with two children. She also designed and sold clothes for children under her own brand.
In 2000 Foerster started working for the administration of “Miditec Data Systems”, a manufacturer of security technology. She moved to International Sales in the same company in 2005 and worked as the International Sales Manager for Hotel Security Solutions, focusing on Europe and the Middle East while attending and organizing numerous engagements and events for the company.
As a member of the Board of Trustees at CTBUH, Katrin Foerster finds it the perfect opportunity to support a truly important global organization focusing on and exploring how specific building types aim to solve challenges of how people live in high urban densities. Foerster intends to create a new technology-oriented branch within the CTBUH to discuss and promote software and hardware solutions for digital building automation that can influence strategies such as significantly reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions during building use. Communicating that these technologies as well improve people's livelihoods and well-being, from safety and health to general home comfort, is another important mission for her.
Foerster has additionally spent two years studying and working in the USA, France and Brazil.
