With more than 30 years in the design and construction industry, Karsten can draw on a wealth of experience, starting his career in the early 1990s on the drawing board and on construction sites in Germany. With post-grad degrees in Engineering from Universities in Germany and the UK, he then spent 6 years in Atkins, first in the Engineering Technology Group in Epsom, UK, before transferring to the Buildings’ Division in Dubai in 2007. From 2011, Karsten established and grew an Engineering Consultancy in Abu Dhabi before he joined Killa Design in 2016 to set-up the Structural Engineering Team.

With a strong technical background, Karsten has been leading the team(s) on several multidisciplinary projects and has gained vast experience on a broad variety of structures, including high rise buildings, hospitality, educational and leisure facilities, office buildings, as well as rail projects, bridges, stadia, and oil platforms, with projects executed in Europe, the GCC, Africa and Asia.
He has developed naturally into more managerial positions, on project(s) basis as Design- and Project Manager or Project Director, but also on studio basis as Operations Manager and then been appointed as Managing Director of Killa Design in Jan 2021.
