Jamshid Mohammadi has been a faculty member since 1979, and is currently a professor of civil and architectural engineering, at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, Illinois. He earned his graduate degrees in civil engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1977 and 1980, respectively. Over the period 1997-2011, he served as the chairman of the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at IIT. He teaches courses in structural engineering and conducts research in structural reliability, fatigue and fracture reliability analysis, and bridge engineering.

Dr. Mohammadi’s publication record is over 150 papers in journals and conference proceedings; and also as books and book chapters and research and investigation reports. Among his publications include a textbook published in 2012, entitled: Systems Engineering with Economics, Probability and Statistics (Khsity, Mohammadi and Amedkudzi, Ross Publishing Co., Fort Lauderdale, FL).

Dr. Mohammadi is a licensed civil engineer (California), professional engineer (Illinois) and a licensed structural engineer (Illinois). A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), he is also the Editor-in-Chief of ASCE’s Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction.

Dr. Mohammadi’s research focuses on structural engineering and building design with emphasis on structural reliability, failure investigation, probabilistic studies and fatigue and fracture reliability.
