As a Director of Woods Bagot’s Sydney studio, Alvaro is a leading force in the design and realisation of a diverse range of projects, varying in both scale and function. It is Alvaro’s ability to move seamlessly between the disciplines of architecture and interior design which allows him to communicate with clients, delivering crafted projects with outstanding workmanship and attention to detail. His design portfolio illustrates the interplay of these two disciplines, ranging from typology-pushing mixed-use commercial and civic architectural developments, through to small-scale residential and hospitality destinations with curated interiors.

Decorated with numerous accolades, Alvaro’s career includes awards and honours spanning local and international competitions and press. As a recipient of the Harry Seidler Award for Commercial Architecture and the prestigious Lloyd Reece Medal for Outstanding Urban Design in 2009 for Ivy: a vibrant, mixed use destination in Sydney’s CBD, Alvaro continues to cultivate his portfolio of globally recognised architecture. In 2011, Alvaro won World Architecture Festival (WAF) House of the Year for the design of his own Small House: a prototypical home on a 42 square-meter site in Sydney’s inner-city suburb of Surry Hills. More recently, Alvaro’s design for Paramount by The Office Space won the competitive Office category at the 2016 World Festival of Interiors. Current projects include Wynyard Walk: a nine-meter-wide pedestrian tunnel in the heart of Sydney, and a landmark 55-story tower at 8 Phillip St, Parramatta.
