Dave Hopping joined Siemens in 1989, and is the President and CEO of Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA. He is responsible for the smart building and smart grid portfolios that include building IoT, automation, fire safety, security, energy, low and medium voltage, digital grid, and control components.
Together, Smart Infrastructure intelligently connects energy systems with buildings to help customers create an environment that intuitively responds to their needs and better uses resources.
Hopping is also CEO of Siemens Smart Infrastructure –Regional Solutions and Services for the Americas. Previous roles include Vice President of Siemens Building Technologies’ Building Performance and Sustainability business line and Head of the Building Automation business unit.
All but four of his more than 30 years of industry experience have been with Siemens. During this time, Hopping has steadily held successive leadership positions in Sales, Operations, and Management across the country.
In addition to his business leadership responsibilities, Hopping is a board member of the Siemens Foundation, where he previously served as chairman. He also formerly served on the board for Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, Alliance to Save Energy, and UI LABS’ City Digital project. In the past, he has served as the Chicago City Ambassador for Siemens Corporation, USA, and he is currently Siemens’ Executive Sponsor for the City of Chicago.
Located in Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s U.S. corporate headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, USA, Hopping earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
