Carsten Hein started his career as a structural engineer in 1989 and is with Ove Arup Germany since 1996.
He acquired extensive experience in various types of construction in all areas of structural design. Beside experience with general types of construction as e.g. composite constructions, steel and concrete he has developed a special interest in glass, fiber reinforced plastics and timber. With the materials group in Germany he looks into research to develop new composite materials and works on revitalizing the use of timber and timber composites as sustainable building material. He pursues competitions and supports Architects and clients in the early design phases.
In November 2014 Carsten Hein was appointed co-chair of the newly founded CTBUH Tall Timber Research group. In this role he will be able to link internal and external research on timber construction to push for the design of…
