Anton Davies is a practising engineer in the field of wind engineering, environment and sustainable design. He joined RWDI in 1977 after completing his PhD studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada.

The early part of his career was spent developing techniques that employed the use of wind tunnel simulation of the effects of wind on building structures and people. This evolved to include the study of air pollution associated with individual built forms such as hospitals and laboratories and grew to include these effects on entire cities and countries. It was a natural progression to extend this body of work into the realm of sustainable design, which often employs clean technology such as wind and solar power and solar effects on buildings and people.

RWDI has been privileged to work on such ground breaking tall buildings as the Petronas Towers in Malaysia, Taipei 101 in Taiwan, Burj Khalifa in UAE and Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia - each respectively the world’s tallest building. In addition, RWDI is the co-author of the Basis of Design Document for Masdar City, UAE which will be the world’s first net zero carbon city. Another unusual and important project was the thermal comfort studies for the expansion of the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Anton has had a leadership role in each of these projects.

Anton is a Founding Partner of RWDI Inc., a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and a Qualified Environmental Professional.
