About
Alexander Dietrich, Executive Director at Goldman Sachs, 24 years in real estate.
I am responsible for all design, project management, and construction activities at Maybourne Hotel Group. Maybourne operates five hotels in London, LA, and France, including the iconic Claridge’s, The Connaught, and The Berkeley, consistently being voted amongst the best luxury hotels worldwide. The group is expanding its footprint globally, with additional hotels being planned in Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. It’s also developing branded residences for the first time.
I lead a 12-strong in-house design and project team and all external project managers, QSs, and contractors across all projects. I’m also responsible for developing our development and project management processes.
We have two projects in New York City, which will be both between 30 and 40 storeys tall. Our Bangkok project is around 40 and the Dubai project around 50 storeys.
Around ten years ago I worked on a project which is one of the tallest residential buildings in Canary Wharf. We bought the land and I helped prepare the planning application from a technical design point of view — I certainly learned a bit about tall buildings then. The CTBUH has enabled me to meet other developers, which has given me more of an insight into tall buildings.
