In Vaughan, a Toronto suburb, the project for Festival, a mixed-use complex at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC), broke ground.

Designed by IBI Group, the project features four towers reaching up to 59 stories and connected by a podium. The project will anchor developers Menkes’ and QuadReal Property Group’s master-planned redevelopment of a 2.2-hectare (5.5-acre) community.

Festival will be developed in phases. Upon its completion, it will deliver a total of 2,470 residential suites. A central plaza will provide 7,897 square meters (85,000 square feet) of commercial space featuring dining, shopping, and lifestyle services. Festival will feature a range of indoor and outdoor amenities, public open spaces, and a covered pedestrian area.

The greater South VMC block will include 2,600,000 square feet of office space, and more than 4,300 square feet of retail space across 18 hectares (45 acres) of dedicated non-residential development space.

Occupancies in the first phase at Festival are anticipated to begin in the fall of 2024.
