Updated Design Revealed for 642-Meter Tower in Shenzhen

29 January 2019 | Shenzhen, China

bKL Architecture has unveiled its proposed design for a new, 642-meter tower located in Shenzhen, China. The 128-story tower is intended to mark the gateway to the eastern expansion of the emerging region.

The full development will include commercial, civic, office, hotel, and residential program. The form of the tower transforms in response to the building program, giving the structure its unique profile and evoking the relationship between people and their environment.

As the building rises, the form gently steps back to offer areas of rainwater capture along the full façade of the building. The projected rainwater capture will replace the building’s annual estimated water usage.

The scheme pictured is an update from a previous design for the site.
