Earlier in the week of Nov 21st, 2022, Ohio State University temporarily stopped construction on part of its new inpatient hospital tower after cracks were found in the concrete.

The structural engineer of record and a third-party engineer examined the cracks, which caused the university to stop steel work on the US$1.79 billion tower at its Wexner Medical Center.

A spokesperson from OSU said on 25 November 2022 that the cracking was a result of a compression issue on one concrete column and is only affecting that column. It was also stated that it would not affect the safety of the building and that construction on other portions of the new tower can continue while the steel work is paused.
